Cleaning Fuel tanks
Another busy day on Anahata. Lubricated through hulls and cleaned the fuel tanks. The marina came through again and lent me a portable fuel pump and a 50 gallon drum. After pumping out 50 gallons of diesel from tanks revealed the problem, 2 inches of rust and sludge in the bottom of the tank. The process involved setting the fuel pump in the aft cabin and pumping into a 5 gallon jerry can, then lowering by rope off the back of the boat and emptying into the drum. After emptying all the fuel from the tanks, 2 hours of scrubbing and scraping had it all sorted.

May 5, 2014Good for you. I was looking into van living myself and it seems that some mechanical ability is key. Especially if a man drives way out into the bush.
