Busy boat show
Anahata is very quiet as all crew have left. What a great weekend. Got to hook up with a herd of good mates from Queen City Yacht Club plus solved a couple of problems with big projects on the boat.
It was fantastic to share a couple of evenings with Qcyc folks and show off Anahata to some who came out to the boat. As I did not get to take Anahata back to Canada this summer no one had seen her. I think everyone was suitably impressed.
First off thanks to Ed from the QCYC for coming out to Anahata and while everyone else on the boat was drinking rummers he helped me problem-solve the batteries and alternator issue.
He diagnosed that there was a bit loss of voltage as the positive current from going from my big balmar 205 amp via a battery switch to the alternator. Once I rerouted it we went up from getting 90 to getting 135 amps.
Dale from balmar at the boat show was also really patient with me as I pitched up everyday showing my charging readouts as we tried to problem solve the issue. On the first day I spoke to him he noticed that the regular was set to the wrong battery type.
The good news I can report is this morning I have put back all the power that I used yesterday in just one hour of charging. Yippee.
The boat show was really useful as I could go to get something one day take it back to the boat and try it out and return the next day get some more. This was the case for LED light bulbs. Man do they really save power consumption.
Another great meeting was one I had with the reps from monitor wind self steering. It turns out it is incorrectly set up so now know what to tweek.
Update on boat on the rocks last week. Turns out was a boat called Otter which was sailing out of New York the same time as we were ten days ago. They have pulled their boat and are now dealing with insurance companies to get their boat fixed. Marjo came by Anahata on Saturday to say that they had taken some great pictures of Anahata . She just emailed me the pics
