Annapolis update
Been a busy week in Annapolis continuing to work through the boat list. The biggy for the week were getting the fridge and freezer sorted. Sean for Horton Marine Services came by and checked over the entire system. The freezer just need to be recharged and connection tightened to stop a small leak. The fridge is all set up to receive water cooling, which is hopefully going to use less power in tropics. Sean is going supply me with the necessary pump and fan and I can install.
Wednesday was spent at Salty Dawg rally seminars. Lots of useful information from ssb radio, bottom paint, rigging, liferafts, and most importantly weather. Got to meet “the guy” , Chris Parker, he does all the weather routing for the Caribbean and Atlantic. Good news is he able help me with weather as far as Galapagos island.
The other biggie for the week, I was able to hook up with an professional rigger Steve Madden. who has come up with a plan how I can replace my deck step tie down. Steve is an ex South African from Durban, so we called the same language. Good guy. Steve did the rigging presentation at the rally seminars. His pics of failed rigging were really illuminating. Thankfully all of Anahata standing was replaced. 3 years ago so I think we are in good shape.
The Salty Dawg rally is a bunch of cruisers leaving in early November direct to BVIs. As I was planning to do that jump at the same time, have signed up with Salty Dawg. There are 116 boats registered for the rally this year. The intended departure date is about 3 November from Hampton, Virginia.
Boat show started yesterday and about 15 mates have driven down from Toronto for the show. I guess this weekend might require a break from boat projects for a bit of R&R with the mates.
